Divorce in Nebraska

Each year, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services issues a Vital Stats Report for the previous year. The 2009 report was issued in October 2010. There were a little more than 6,000 divorces that year in the state, and almost half of the cases involved people in their 30s, interestingly enough. Many of these were relatively short divorces. One in four divorces ended marriages of three years or less. Half of those who divorced in 2009 were married for fewer than seven years.

Fifty-one percent of divorces involved couples with children. In all, there were 5,790 children affected by divorces finalized in 2009.
